RÉSUMÉ

I'm fortunate in that the combination of engineering and art school foundations serve me well, allowing me to work across a broad spectrum of projects: It's how design shapes the intersection of technology with hearts and minds that motivates me. I've worked with some great minds in both consultancy and corporate environments.

Contracted to assist in the design of ION, a system that uses minimally invasive technologies to obtain tissue samples deep inside the the lung for biopsy. It won two IDSA Gold Awards, 2019

Rejoined Intel Oregon at the front end of ideation and innovation planting the seeds for concepts and detail design for reference designs that were ultimately used for demo and shown to volume manufacturers. I was also asked to make appearances on corporate media to evangelize the importance of concept design within Intel.

Based in Seattle as Senior Designer responsible for design and implementing the design of a wide range of consumer electronic products for clients that included Boeing, HP, Microsoft, and Samsung. I was contributing designer on the 'Gateway ONE that won 2010 IDEA Silver (Computer Equipment) Award

My role was to demonstrate at executive level that by working across business groups within the company, Industrial Design could serve both as a tool to enable internal debate, and to evangelize mobile platforms in the form of working prototypes both internally and externally to customers, including ODMs and OEM such as HP, Dell, Lenovo and others.

As Senior Designer based in San Francisco I focused on Design programs for clients such as NEC, Logitech, 3Com, and HP, through to bigger ‘strategic innovation’ programs aimed at redefining the business strategies for clients that included Kodak Digital Imaging, and Canon Japan. My biggest program the Amtrak Acela High Speed train system won a 2000 IDEA Gold Award.

In collaboration with Sebastian Conran we worked on a variety of consumer products. Later I consulted on the adaptation of the KTX for the Korean Seoul-Pusan high speed rail link and with Wolff Olins on initial design concepts and passenger car layouts for the Heathrow Express train.
.

My role was that of creative director overseeing Industrial design and its alignment with client brand attributes. Programs included working with Alsthom in France to design a TGV based high speed train for RENFE in Spain. Regional train design in Budapest, and an aircraft interior concept for the ATR 72.

As principal designer working for clients that included Tefal, Clairol, Philips, Yamaha, a micro light aircraft monocoque, as well as a first generation cellphone that formed the seeds of Nokia’s business. I won design awards for professional audio equipment for Digital Audio Research and for a first generation cellphone.

I simultaneously taught Industrial Design at Northumbria University- (ex students include Tim Brown COO of IDEO and Jonathan Ive of Apple)
while freelancing for a start-up winning an IF award for a currency counting machine. Collaborated with Geoff Hollington to design the Elan Enterprise- a first generation consumer focused PC: 4 MHz and 64 KB memory.
